Editorial Policy
Last updated: 19 September 2026
Imo Media Hub exists to inform people in Owerri, Imo State and across Nigeria with clear, fair and useful reporting. This page explains the standards we hold ourselves to, so that you can judge our work.
Our principles
- Accuracy. We aim to check facts before publishing, to attribute claims to those who make them, and to say plainly when we do not know something.
- Fairness. We aim to report all sides of a story and to give people who are criticised a fair chance to respond.
- Independence. Our reporting is not written to please advertisers, officials or political parties. Any advertising or sponsored content will be clearly labelled as such and kept separate from news.
- Clarity. We separate news from opinion and analysis, and we label which is which.
- Care. We avoid unnecessary graphic detail, protect the identity of children and victims of abuse, and do not publish content that identifies them.
Stories from other news outlets
Alongside our own reporting, we bring readers important stories from other Nigerian news outlets. These stories are always labelled. Each one shows:
- the headline as published by the outlet and a short extract only — never the full article;
- the name of the outlet, shown as the “Source”, and a clear link and button to read the full report on the outlet’s own website.
The stories are collected automatically from the outlets’ public news feeds. Each collected story is held for review by an editor before it is published, and we skip opinion columns, sponsored content, obituaries and stories with graphic or sensitive detail. We do not alter the outlet’s reporting. If you are the owner of an outlet and would like a story removed, please contact us (see below) and we will act on your request.
Photographs
Photographs on this website are freely licensed images, credited to their photographers on the Photo Credits page and in each caption. A photograph labelled “File photo” illustrates a place or subject and does not necessarily show the people or event in the story.
Corrections and updates
We make mistakes, and we want to fix them. If you think something we have published is wrong or unfair, please tell us through the contact form (write “Correction” in the subject) or email imomediahub@gmail.com, and include the address (URL) of the page.
- We review every correction request and aim to respond within two working days.
- Where an error is confirmed, we correct it promptly. Significant changes to one of our own articles are shown with an “Updated” date on the article.
- For stories from other outlets, errors in the original report should be raised with the outlet itself; we will correct any mistake we introduced in our extract or labelling.
Advertising and sponsorship
This website carries paid adverts. Every advert is labelled “Advertisement” and links from adverts are marked as sponsored. Paid articles are marked “Sponsored content” at the top of the page and in story lists, name the sponsor, and are not part of our independent reporting. Advertisers cannot see, change or delay our reporting, and being an advertiser does not earn favourable coverage. Anyone interested in advertising can read how on our Advertise page.
Complaints and right of reply
If you are named in a story and believe it is inaccurate or unfair, write to us at the address below. We will consider a reply or clarification and, where appropriate, publish it.
