Idris made this known on Friday in Abuja at the 20th Anniversary Gala and Award Night of the Abuja Property Development Company (APDC) Limited.

According to him, the Federal Government is deliberately investing in housing and mortgage financing as part of measures to bridge Nigeria's housing gap.

He said, "Through the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme, the administration has advanced housing projects across the country, with more than 10,000 housing units commenced across 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory. These interventions show the importance of sustained investment, effective partnerships and innovative financing in making homeownership more accessible to Nigerians."

Idris, who once served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of APDC, congratulated the company on its 20th anniversary, lauding its management, staff and stakeholders for sustaining growth over the years.

He urged property developers to uphold high standards, ensure proper urban planning and build homes that truly meet the needs of families and communities.

"Property development goes beyond putting up buildings. It involves creating spaces where families can live, businesses can grow, and communities can thrive. Well-planned developments contribute to the growth of cities, create employment and support economic activity," the Minister added.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of an award to Minister Idris by the management of APDC in recognition of his service as former Board Chairman.

According to APDC, his leadership during two separate tenures was instrumental to the company's structural growth, stability and reputation.

Idris expressed optimism that APDC would build on its two decades of experience to continue to contribute to the development of Abuja through quality housing delivery and responsible estate development.

The event was attended by top dignitaries including the Group Managing Director of Abuja Investment Company Limited (AICL), represented by Dr Abiodun Akambi, the Acting Managing Director of APDC, Mr Akeem Aderogba, former MD of APDC, Mallam Lawal Magaji, as well as chief executives, management and staff of APDC.
