Governor Hope Uzodimma has made a strong political declaration, reaffirming his commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and making it clear that the party remains the sole political platform for the forthcoming elections in Imo State.

Speaking to Imo people immediately after Sunday Mass at the Government House Chapel, Owerri, today, Sunday, November 8, 2026, the Governor dismissed suggestions that his political ticket would be transferred to another person or that his political camp would support candidates on another party's platform.

In his words:

"Go and campaign for the party, our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). There is no other political party we are going with."

THE GOVERNOR KILLS THE RUMOUR

For weeks, rumours have been flying in Imo political circles:

"Uzodimma will hold ticket and give it to another person."
"Uzodimma camp will support another party."
"Uzodimma is planning to decamp."
"Uzodimma is not serious about APC."

Today, the Governor answered all of them in one sentence:

"If they tell you that I will hold this ticket and somebody will collect it and give it to another, tell the person it is a lie."

That is a direct message to rumour mongers, to anti-party elements, and to those spreading confusion in APC ahead of the elections.

THE GOVERNOR NAMES THE CANDIDATES - ZONE BY ZONE

The Governor went further to identify the party and candidates to support across the various legislative elections.

"For House of Assembly, it is All Progressives Congress (APC).

For House of Representatives, it is All Progressives Congress (APC).

For Senate, your Senator in Okigwe Zone is Patrick Ndubueze, in Orlu Zone it is my humble self, (Hope Uzodimma) and in Owerri Zone it is (Alex) Mbata."

Breakdown:

  • OKIGWE ZONE (Imo North): Senator Patrick Ndubueze - APC
  • ORLU ZONE (Imo West): Governor Hope Uzodimma himself - APC
  • OWERRI ZONE (Imo East): Alex Mbata - APC

This is the first time the Governor has publicly, in church, named himself as the Orlu Zone senatorial candidate and confirmed the full APC senatorial lineup for Imo State.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR IMO POLITICS:

1. No Confusion Again: Anybody campaigning for another party and claiming Uzodimma sent him is lying. The Governor has said it himself - APC only.

2. APC Unity Call: This is a call to all APC members, aspirants, stakeholders, and supporters to close ranks and campaign for APC from Chairman to Councillor, to House of Assembly, to House of Reps, to Senate, to Governor, to President.

3. Warning To Anti-Party: Any APC member caught campaigning for another party after this declaration cannot claim ignorance. The Governor has spoken clearly.

4. Message To Opposition: APC in Imo is not divided. The leader has spoken. The party is going into the elections as one family.

REACTIONS ALREADY COMING IN:

APC supporters are celebrating: "Our Governor has spoken. No more confusion. APC all the way."

Opposition supporters are reacting: "We will see on election day. Mouth no be vote."

Neutral Imo people are asking: "Governor, we hear you. But what about roads, light, jobs, security? Campaign is good, but delivery is better."

That is the real question. Campaign will bring votes, but performance will decide if people will follow APC again in 2027.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:

With LG Election on Saturday, 14th November 2026, and APC primaries set for tomorrow, Monday 9th November, this Sunday declaration is a clear signal:

APC in Imo is going into the LG election, and the forthcoming general elections, with one voice, one party, one leader.

All eyes are now on tomorrow's primaries - will the party follow the Governor's unity message, or will primaries cause new wahala?

Stay with Imo Media Hub. We will bring you the primaries winners, LGA by LGA, as they emerge.

Do you believe Governor Uzodimma? Is APC the only party for Imo, or do you think another party will shock APC in 2027? Drop your zone - Okigwe, Orlu, Owerri - and your candidate in comments. Let's argue with respect.
