WHEN PERSONAL GREED KILLS COLLECTIVE VICTORY: THE CANCER EATING POLITICAL PARTIES*
_By Comr. Alozie James-Patrick | Political Scientist & Public Affairs Commentator | Imo Media Hub_
There is a silent killer in every political party. It is not the opposition. It is not lack of funds. It is not poor strategy.
It is the greed of one man that blinds him to the victory of all.
When an individual's political greed beclouds the general victory of a political party, the party does not just lose an election. It loses its soul, its unity, and its future.
We have seen it happen too many times.
One man wants to be the only voice. One man wants to be the only candidate, the only contractor, the only one who knows the leader, the only one who shares the money. He forgets that politics is a team game.
He forgets that no one wins alone.
*HOW INDIVIDUAL GREED DESTROYS PARTY VICTORY:*
*1. It Creates Internal Wars When We Should Be Fighting External Battles*
Instead of facing the opposition, we begin to fight ourselves. The greedy man sponsors factions, creates parallel structures, and whispers, "If it is not me, then let the party fail." He would rather lose with his pride intact than win with another person taking the glory.
*2. It Chases Away Loyal Members*
Good men and women who laboured for the party begin to feel used. They contributed money, time, and energy, only for one greedy individual to hijack everything. They don't make noise. They just leave. And when the party needs foot soldiers during election, the house is empty.
*3. It Makes The Party Look Selfish Before The People*
The people are watching. When they see that our party is all about one man's stomach, not about their welfare, they withdraw their support. Voters can smell greed from afar. They know when a party is working for the people and when it is working for one man's pocket.
*4. It Weakens The Leader*
A greedy man around a leader is like poison in the leader's food. He blocks others from accessing the leader. He tells lies to keep himself relevant. He filters information. In the end, the leader becomes blind, isolated, and hated by his own people, not because the leader is bad, but because one greedy man built a wall around him.
*A HARD TRUTH FOR EVERY POLITICIAN:*
Politics is not about how much you can grab. It is about how much you can build.
A seat you grab through greed will not last. A victory you steal from your own party will hunt you. Because the people you stepped on to rise will be the same people you need to stay on top.
True political greatness is not in winning alone. It is in making others win with you.
Let us learn to put the party first, the people first, and our personal ambition last. Because when the party wins, we all win. But when greed wins, we all lose, including the greedy man himself.
Party is supreme. People are supreme. No individual is bigger than the collective.
Let greed die, so that victory may live.
