Federal High Court Abuja Justice Obiora Egwuatu orders Gov Hope Uzodimma to stop parading as APC candidate for Imo West Senatorial District and declares Rochas Okorocha winner of May 18 2026 primary. Court orders APC to submit Okorocha's name to INEC. Judgment delivered Oct 29 2026.
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma to stop parading himself as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Imo West Senatorial District (Orlu Zone).
Delivering judgment on Thursday, October 29, 2026, Justice Obiora Egwuatu of Court 11, Federal High Court Abuja, held that evidence before the court proved that former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, won the majority of votes cast at the APC primary election of May 18, 2026, monitored by INEC.
The court consequently ordered the APC to forward Okorocha's name as its candidate for the Imo West Senatorial election slated for January 16, 2027, and directed INEC to publish Okorocha's name.
The judgment was delivered in suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1854/2026 filed by Okorocha challenging Uzodimma's recognition as the party's candidate.
It would be recalled that INEC had earlier maintained that the authentic result submitted to it by APC showed Uzodimma as winner with 230,464 votes against Okorocha's 1,098 votes, and had petitioned the Police and DSS alleging forgery of primary documents.
The judgment is expected to be appealed.
