Many YEIDEP applicants will lose their ₦500,000 grant due to simple avoidable mistakes. From BVN mismatch to paying scammers, here are 10 critical mistakes you must avoid before Batch A disbursement.
*10 Mistakes That Will Make You Lose Your YEIDEP Grant (Avoid These Before Disbursement)*
If you applied for YEIDEP, your next step is critical. The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has warned that many beneficiaries may miss their ₦500,000 grant because of small mistakes during account regularization.
I visited Keystone Bank in Port Harcourt and saw people being sent back. Don't let it be you.
Here are the 10 mistakes that will make you lose your YEIDEP grant:
*1. Your NIN and BVN Details Don't Match*
This is the number one reason for disqualification. If your name, date of birth on NIN is different from BVN, your account will not be regularized. Go and correct it at NIMC or your bank first.
*2. Using a Different Phone Number*
You used one number for YEIDEP registration and another for your bank account. FMYD said clearly: use the SAME number. If not, update your bank with the YEIDEP number.
*3. Not Going for Account Regularization*
YEIDEP is not automatic. If your bank sent you a message to come and regularize your account and you ignore it, you will not receive payment. Fidelity, Keystone, Lotus and other partner banks require this.
*4. Paying Someone to Fast-Track Your Payment*
YEIDEP is 100% FREE. Anyone asking for ₦1,000, ₦2,000 or ₦5,000 to help you get the grant is a scammer. FMYD said there is no shortcut. You will lose your money and your grant.
*5. Sharing Your OTP, PIN or Bank Details on WhatsApp*
Scammers are creating fake YEIDEP WhatsApp groups. Never share your OTP, account number or password with anyone online.
*6. Opening Multiple YEIDEP Accounts*
Some applicants registered with Fidelity, then went to open Keystone again. This creates duplication and will disqualify you. Stick to ONE bank.
*7. Wrong Business Plan or No Business Idea*
YEIDEP is not for sharing money. You must have a clear business idea, especially in agriculture or small business. During verification, you may be asked what you will do with ₦500k.
*8. Not Checking Your Email and SMS Regularly*
All official updates from FMYD and your bank come via SMS and email. If you don't check daily, you will miss your verification date.
*9. Using Someone Else's Account*
Your YEIDEP name must match your bank account name 100%. You cannot use your brother's or wife's account to receive the grant.
*10. Ignoring Official Channels and Following Fake News*
FMYD only communicates via @fmyd_official and official banks. If you follow random blogs that say "YEIDEP has started paying ₦500k today" you will be misled.
*What Should You Do Now?*
1. Visit your partner bank with your NIN, BVN, and the phone number you used for YEIDEP.
2. Tell them you came for YEIDEP account regularization.
3. Ensure your account is upgraded to Tier 3 if needed.
4. Wait for official communication. Don't pay anyone.
