From typing to spreadsheets and basic design, many valuable digital skills can be learned online at little or no cost.
Digital skills open doors to jobs, freelance work and business opportunities. You do not need an expensive course to begin — only a device, a little data and a consistent routine.
Start with the basics
Learn touch typing, file management and email. Then move on to word processing and spreadsheets, which are used in almost every office. Free tutorials and practice exercises are widely available online.
Choose one direction
Once you have the basics, pick a path that matches your interest: graphic design, writing and editing, data entry and analysis, social media management, or beginner web development. Focus on one before adding another.
Practise with real projects
Create a small portfolio: design posters for a local event, write a short blog, or build a simple spreadsheet for a family business. Real examples convince employers and clients more than certificates alone.
Protect yourself online
Use strong passwords, be careful with unknown links and never pay money to “guarantee” a job offer.
Set a small daily target — thirty minutes is enough — and track your progress. Consistency beats intensity.
